Two quick updates:
I’ll be speaking at my friend Gary Bernhardt’s conference Deconstruct in Seattle April 20–21. Usually I give technical talks about how I built something, but as I’ve been building Subform and getting feedback from our Kickstarter backers, I’ve been thinking a ton about designing and communicating the concepts within a tool. Photoshop, for example, is all about pixels, and affecting those pixels by stacking layers, whereas something like HTML is about hierarchical relationships between elements. So I’ll be speaking about this kind of thing, focusing more user interfaces (both physical and virtual) than on implementation details.
Beyond software conceptual design, I’ve also been hard at work designing my workshop. In particular, I’ve been doing detailed renderings of the workshop’s exterior appearance and exploring variations to hone in on a coherent aesthetic. Check that out here, and please email me or tweet @lynaghk if you have any feedback/ideas.
